Patti has always been interested in sculpture, color and texture, taking her inspiration from nature. Ceramics allow her to work ‘in the round’, exploring her subject from all directions, with lots of texture — filling the space that surrounds the piece. Pastels appeal to her for their intensity, and allow her to layer the saturated color upon one another. Acrylic, which she often applies in a deep impasto, reflects a lot of surface interest, and mimics the natural world that surrounds us all.
