Reni Moriarity – in memoriam
We are heartbroken to report that our dear friend Reni passed away in 2017.
A native of the East Coast, Reni Moriarity moved to the Pacific Northwest in her late teens. She studied at the University of Washington and later studied Japanese pottery and drawing.
For twenty years she was a professional potter. She became interested in Sumi painting as a means of decorating pots, and later came to love it as an independent art form.
Reni’s work has been exhibited throughout Puget Sound, United States, France and Japan. Her work has won major awards at the Sumi-e Society of America National Exhibit.
